Community Week - March 2021

Take a look at what our students have been getting up to during our Community Week (22nd - 26th March)

Swale Rail

On 25th March 2021, Landscaping and Horticulture students went over to Sittingbourne Train Station. Before going over there, they built 2 wooden planters which they cut and measured themselves. While at the station, they put these planters together and then used a solution to seal the wood. The students had great fun working together as a team while learning new skills and knowledge of working in a public place and following health and safety guidelines. Not to mention making the local station a nicer and brighter place for commuters passing through, we can't wait to see them filled with flowers!

Age UK

As part of their community, our Fresh Start and Business Level 1 students used their creative skills to produce over 120 Easter cards for Age UK Sheppey and their clients, which put a smile on many faces over the Easter weekend! A lot of people can feel isolated during the holiday periods, especially during COVID-19 so it's nice to spread some kindness during these hard times, especially within our local community.

Virtual Easter Event

Business Level 2 students organised a Virtual Easter event for the local community to get involved in during their community week. Students worked hard to create an online activity centre, which included online games, virtual activities, puzzles and more. This was available free of charge via our website or the facebook event page. Business students also organised and ran a virtual Easter bonnet competition, which was free to enter and the prizes included hampers and Easter eggs, kindly donated by our local Morrison's Community Champion. They wanted to create something for families to do over the Easter break together and have fun safely and without charge - and we think they achieved just that! Well done to all those involved, it was a great and successful virtual event.

Food Bank

During community week, our Public Services students organised and collected for a local food bank. They were able to secure lots of donations from staff. students, friends and family thanks for their hard work and efforts. Well done to you all!
