Traineeships

As part of the Government's 'Plan for Jobs', traineeships are designed to help you gain the confidence, skills, and experience needed to secure employment or progress to an apprenticeship.

 

What is a traineeship?

Traineeships are free skills development programmes that include work placements.

They are designed to give young people the skills and experience employers need, helping you to take the first step in your career.

 

What does a traineeship include?

Traineeships include:

  • A high-quality work placement of at least 70 hours with a local employer.
  • Workshops to help you create a CV, write cover letters, apply for jobs, and prepare for interviews.
  • Recognised qualifications.
  • Support to improve your English, mathematics, and digital skills if you need it.

 

Who can apply for a traineeship?

You can apply for a traineeship if you are:

  • Aged 16 to 24, or 25 with a Care Plan.
  • Have not completed a Level 3 (or above) qualification. 
  • Eligible to work in the UK

 

What traineeships are available?

You can complete a traineeship in one of the following areas: 

General

The 'General Traineeship' is designed to help you gain employment in the Digital and IT sector. 

  • Work with established employers and get a valuable reference to support your job applications.
  • Gain insight into career opportunities in Digital Marketing.
  • Work on real projects with professional colleagues. 
  • Learn to work as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Get a professional qualification that opens doors to jobs, further study, or an apprenticeship. 

 

Course content:

  • Level 1 qualification in a relevant subject.
  • Level 1 qualification in Employability.
  • 70 hours work experience.
  • English and mathematics support if required.
