Students across the East Kent Colleges Group’s family of Colleges are celebrating their achievements today (Thursday 17 August) as they collect their T Level results and BTEC Level 3 results.
The Group introduced T Levels in 2021 as part of the Government’s Wave 2 rollout of the new qualification, and today marks the first results day for these two-year Level 3 qualifications.
Chief Executive Officer at EKC Group, Graham Razey, said: “It’s absolutely wonderful to see our students collecting their results today and I’m incredibly proud of each and every one of them. This year is particularly special, as we’re witnessing the first cohort of T Level learners collecting their results and I couldn’t be more pleased with how they’ve all done.
"We’ve had some absolutely fantastic results with our T Levels this year, with a whopping 100 per cent pass rate in our Broadstairs College’s Early Years T Level. And that’s with three quarters of those learners receiving a merit for their work!”
But it’s not just Early Years the Group’s delivered, with T Level results being collected across Digital, Nursing, and Carpentry pathways as well.
Within these areas the Group has also seen outstanding results, with a 100 per cent pass rate for Adult Nursing and Early Years at EKC Canterbury College and a 100 per cent pass rate in Carpentry at EKC Folkestone College, as well as an 80 per cent pass rate within Digital at EKC Dover College. Overall the Group’s seen its learners achieve outstanding results, with more than 40 per cent getting a Merit across all of its provision, and over 10 per cent receiving a Distinction.
T Levels, introduced as a new technical education option, have garnered national attention for their focus on equipping students with the practical skills and knowledge needed to excel in specific industries. With large block work placements in employment settings they offer students the opportunity to develop their skills in a professional setting, learning what employers need. And as each T Level is equivalent to three A Levels, they also offer students the opportunity to progress straight into employment or take an academic pathway into higher education.
Developed in collaboration with employers and industry experts, T Levels ensure that students are equipped with the skills and knowledge required by employers in their chosen sectors. This year’s results reflect the success of this collaborative effort and the rigorous academic and practical components of the T Levels program.
As the T Levels program continues to gain momentum, as an Outstanding Ofsted provider East Kent Colleges Group is committed to providing students with a top-tier technical education, enhancing their career prospects and contributing to the growth of the industries they are preparing to enter.
But it’s not just T Levels that are being celebrated across the Group, with students from EKC Ashford College, EKC Broadstairs College, EKC Dover College, EKC Folkestone College, and EKC Sheppey College also collecting their BTEC Level 3 results today. And with more than 22 per cent receiving a Distinction, and over 25 per cent achieving a Merit, it’s been another great year for the Group’s Ofsted Outstanding provision.
