A recently opened restaurant operated by EKC Group has been nominated for a top food award within months of opening.
Anne’s on Shorncliffe Road, Folkestone, has been nominated as one of the three finalists in the Kent Start-up Food & Drink Business of the Year category of the Taste of Kent Awards thanks to its excellent food and work with Folkestone College students.
Beginning operation in November, the restaurant uses local produce wherever possible to craft a menu of traditional favourites with culinary twists. General Manager Steven Hayes and Head Chef Grant Figes have created strong local connections to source the best ingredients and to stay aware of food trends in the area.
Anne’s is also acting as a springboard for Folkestone College’s Catering students, who are being offered work experience at the eatery. Their experience in the restaurant offers them insights into the workings of a professional kitchen, designing consistently delicious dishes and creating a warm welcome for customers.
Upon hearing that Anne’s had been nominated, Steven said: “We’re over the moon to have been nominated for the Taste of Kent Award, it’s a true testament to the hard work and skill of our whole team..
“Even though we’ve not been here too long, what we have produced so far has already given us an excellent reputation in the community and further afield.”
The winner will be announced at the Taste of Kent Awards Dinner on May 12 from 5.30pm to 11pm at Kent Event Centre, Detling.
