Dover Students Organise Sponsored Walk in Aid of Local Charity

Vocational Studies students from EKC Group’s Dover Technical College have organised a sponsored walk on Wednesday 25 March in support of Dover smART Project’s ‘#BeSmart Project’.

The students will walk from Dover to Folkestone to raise funds to purchase items for the #BeSmart Hygiene Shop, which is set to open in Dover high-street in May 2020 and will provide hygiene products at low and no cost to Dover residents in need.

Event organiser, Level 1 Vocational Studies student, Harry Homewood, is looking forward to the event commenting, “As part of our course, we have to come up with a fundraising idea and promote it. The Dover to Folkestone walk is my idea, and I’m proud of the adventure I have planned. My classmates and I will be participating in the walk as a team and we’re hoping to raise £250 with all proceeds going to a #BeSmart Hygiene Shop.”

The #BeSmart Project is part of an innovative partnership between Dover smART Project and Dover Technical College, which aims to provide opportunities for students and young adults in the wider community to enhance their skills, and gain work experience.

The #BeSmart Hygiene Shop will be run by college students alongside participants from Dover smART Project’s ‘ART of Age group’ who are living with a dementia.
