Canterbury College Students Cook Up a Royal Feast

Catering students from EKC Group’s Canterbury College recently showcased their culinary and hospitality skills during a celebratory dinner for the ‘Round 13’ winners of The Queen’s Anniversary Prizes 2018-2020.

The group of Level 2 students were part of a multi-college team responsible for creating and serving an outstanding three-course meal to the 22 prize winners and 418 distinguished guests at London’s Guildhall on the eve of the formal prize presentation which took place at Buckingham Palace.

Catering student, Stephanie Shore, 17 from Faversham, thoroughly enjoyed being part of the kitchen team commenting, “I loved the pressure of the kitchen. Working with the other colleges was a good chance to cooperate and meet new people. As soon as it was time to start cooking, we got our heads down and everything seemed to go smoothly”.

Anthony Jacques, the Catering Advisor for the event, praised the students’ attitudes and skilful service on the night, noting that they were “polite and willing” and “demonstrated what a great contribution they will make to the catering industry”.

The College was proud to be represented at the prestigious event which celebrates excellence, innovation and public benefit in work carried out by colleges and universities in the UK. The Prizes are granted by Her Majesty The Queen every two years and are the highest national honour award in further and higher education.
