Onsite Construction T Level Students take a trip to see the building project at Leas Pavilion

This term has been such an exciting term, we love meeting our new and returning students, we have our first community week and then everyone is excited for Christmas and all the fun festivities. We are very grateful that our students get some great career-related experience alongside their course. Our Onsite Construction T Level students were recently granted a special in-depth insight into the work happening at Leas Pavilion here in Folkestone.

Students were given a guided tour of the site by main contractor Ant Yapi’s Head of Health, Safety and Environment Lawrence McKenzie, alongside Construction manager Ali Atakan and Project Director Ahmet Ozdemir.

For students, experiences like this on a working site and being in a live building environment are really beneficial and we are so grateful to have such great employer support.  Our students can start to envision their futures at the end of their studies, learn lots of valuable information that they can link back into the classroom such as health and safety, and build networks for the future. It is also a fantastic opportunity for students to ask questions outside of the classroom to further their industry knowledge.

The project, which is being delivered by development company Gustavia in consultation with local award-winning architects Hollaway Studio, will see the Pavilion offer 91 luxury sea view apartments and restoration of the historic Leas Pavilion lounge. Ant Yapi have kindly invited the T Level students back to participate in site tours on a six monthly basis to view the progress of this exciting build and we can’t wait for the next visit.
