Games Development Extended Diploma Level 3

Do you want to work in the games industry? This course will develop your theoretical understanding of the games industry and production processes involved in making a game. You'll learn practical game development skills such as concept art, 3D modelling, texturing, level design, animation and sound production. You will be using industry-standard software such as 3ds Max, Unreal Engine 4 and the Adobe Creative Suite. This qualification will form the main part of your Canterbury College Study Programme. Our Study Programmes combine your main qualification and work experience.

What will I learn?

You will learn concept art (technical and anatomical), 2D digital art, character design, level design, 3D modelling (organic and hard surface), 3D animation (rigging and animating), game engines and sound production (recording and editing). If necessary, you will also study and take an exam in at least one GCSE (English or Maths).

How will I be assessed?

Through presentations, written assignments, group projects and practical production work. All units you study are graded. A final major project will determine your final grade for the qualification.

What may it lead to?

The course will give you design and production skills that are highly sought after by universities, as well as in the film, TV, music, software development and internet industries.

Entry requirements

4 Cs or 4s including English and Maths.
